Sprint partners with Cable Companies to provide Wireless

Sprint has penned a deal with some major cable companies to offer cellular services to their end users.

Comcast (a division of Time Warner) , Cox Communications and Advance/ Newhouse are going to contribute 100 million towards this initiative to get more wireless customers under their brand names. Sprint is also said to be contributing 100 million towards this goal.

Under the agreement, the cable companies will be in charge of all billing and customer service calls. They are hoping to integrate wireless with video downloads and DVR capabilities.

The tentative date for launch is early 2006.
