Ratings for Content on Cell Phones

The cell phone industry is looking to add a ratings system for content for multimedia devices available over wireless phone networks.

These measures will also give parents tools to prevent minors from accessing adult content.

Ratings will be two-tier, and fall into either a “Generally Accessible Carrier Content” or “Restricted Carrier Content”. These ratings are similiar to the ratings system used by the movie, television and video game industries.

This could also present a great opportunity for them to cash in on pay for play restricted carrier content. I guess we’ll see what happens..
