In what is being described as a disappointing quarter, Motorola missed on networking sales, but hit a huge increase in mobile phone sales to 46.1 million units sold. That’s a blistering 61% increase in revenue for the quarter.
Ron Garriques, head of the company’s mobile business said Motorola sold 18 million handsets in its flagship Razr phone design range during the quarter and expects to ship its 50 millionth Razr phone in the second quarter.
That’s right, over 50 million Razrs have been sold! Shares were weighed down by the bad news about networking in Asia, but still, these number of cell phones sold have to give you pause for thought. The Razr is stilll moving at a blinding pace, so things are likely to continue like this for awhile.
