Motorola Announces Motodev, Wireless Development
May 8, 2006 – 7:35 amThis is an interesting new development in the world of cell phones and new media.
Today Motorola announced the launch of Motodev, which they describe as a “unified developer experience that features a web based program and a business ecosystem.”
MOTODEV will combine Motorola’s existing developer initiatives — beginning with MOTOCODER, iDEN and Horizon — into one seamless web site resource, giving developers simple access to virtually all things MOTO (from mobile devices to digital set-tops). This coordinated approach will help foster innovation in application development and delivery by connecting developers with the resources they need most — tools, SDKs, and clearly defined go-to-market initiatives. And, with information and resources for a variety of products at their fingertips, developers can easily tap into new business opportunities and apply their talent across the full range of Motorola platforms.
Through MOTODEV, Motorola also aims to create a broader business ecosystem including developers, service providers, and business and channel allies. Together, members of MOTODEV can grow and manage new business opportunities by driving application development for multiple environments – work, home, recreation and on-the-go. MOTODEV members will be able to speed the pace of innovation and create new channels for differentiation and revenue.
I believe that Motorola is aggressively seeking to change the way consumers use their cell phones, and apply it more to everyday living.
