Exploding mobile phones freaking out Brazilians
May 22, 2006 – 8:06 amA lot of people love Motorola phones, but increasingly Brazilians are becoming wary of them because of 5 explosions which have occured.
The incidents, representing only a fraction of the 89 million phones in circulation in Brazil, all involved Motorola phones. The company said it was investigating and Brazil’s telecommunication agency is pursuing the case as well.
Undoubtedly, these are a very small number of cases, but it gives on pause for thought. Motorola is pretty sure the problem lies with non-recommended batteries.
The latest incident of an exploding phone occured in Formosa where a woman who was driving had the cell phone in her lap explode. Motorola is currently attempting to educate consumers about the danger of using the wrong batteries or accessories.
