I was reading about a new service that is available to cell phone users that “alerts” you about
possible threats, including hurricanes, Bird Flu, major terror threats and other situations that could place you in danger.

This service is being offered by Up Snap, a company based in North Carolina. UpSnap delivers mobile content, including music, entertainment, podcasts, and sports.
The alert system pulls data from the FBI, the Homeland Security Department, the CDC, and FEMA. In the event that a warning has been issued in your area or region, UpSnap will send an alert to your cellular telephone.
This service is compatible with just about any cell phone and has a monthly subscription price of $3.99. It can be activated by text messaging the word “usa” to UpSnaps short code address
2Snap (27627) or by subscribing at their website. This includes a once weekly voice summary of various homeland security threats.
