Samsung says margins are up and so are handset sales

June 26, 2006 – 5:52 am

Samsung is making good money from handset sales. In particular, new money is pouring because of sales of new ultra-slim models. Samsung is currently the world’s third largest cell-phone manufacturer by sales volume.

Samsung expects to sell 30 million handsets in the third quarter and post a “solid” double-digit profit margin in the handset division, the company said in a statement prepared for the UBS Korea Conference.

Samsung handset sales are up, but margins hovered around 10%. The new ultraslim models promise to help boost sales and profit margin. We’ll have reviews soon concerning the new models.
