Nokia sees massive growth of mobile phones continuing
July 1, 2006 – 8:43 amBlue skies are in order for a long time to come for cell phone makers, according to Nokia chairman Jorma Ollila. It’s hard to argue with the logic:
“There are 3 billion people today who own a mobile phone. Five hundred million of them had never made a phone call in their life before,” he said. The job for Nokia is to make sure as soon as possible to get another 2 billion people connected.”
He also went into detail about how mobile phones represent a chance to improved third world countries because of how the increase communications abilities.
Nokia is the number one phone maker in the world, selling 1 out of every 3 mobile phones. The chairman indicated that the next stage for Nokia is to continue to improve multi-use phones and to lower price points worldwide in an effort to increase market share even more.
Areas they’re targeting for growth:
- Brazil
- Russia
- China
- India
