LG CU500 - Cingular and LG’s answer to the need for speed

Do you wish your cell phone was capable of faster downloads? If so, you are not alone. 3G phones are promising faster connection rates all the time. The LG CU500 is a stylish cell phone capable of high-speed internet connections.

The unit is Tri-Band with speeds of 850/1800/1900 MHz. If you use Cingular Video, you can stream video clips up to 15 frames per second.

“The CU500 is one of the first devices to be launched from Cingular that will allow customers to realize the full potential and benefits of Cingular’s 3G network,” said David Christopher, vice president of product management for Cingular. “Not only is this a great entertainment device with music and video, but with Cingular’s high-speed 3G network, even the things you normally do on your phone, like access the web for news, stocks or weather, are done better and faster.”

Most carriers are extremely excited to show the capability of 3G, and Cingular doesn’t appear to be an exception. With phones like the getting faster all the time, you have to wonder how much of a pinch computer makers will feel in coming years.
