Cingular Adds Coverage in the Carolinas

Today Cingular Wireless announced that they have added 9 new cell sites in the Carolinas.

These new sites will increase coverage and accessibility in the following communities:

  • Marshall County N.C. New coverage along Business US 25/70.
  • Macon County N.C. Improved coverage for U.S. Hwy. 64 between Highlands and Franklin, N.C.
  • Transylvania County N.C. New coverage along Highway 64 around Lake Toxaway.
  • Madison County N.C. New coverage on I-26 between Little Creek and the Tennessee state line and along U.S. Hwy. 23.
  • The following areas have been upgraded to enhanced coverage.

  • Hwys. 141, 19, 74 and 129, south of Marble and between Andrews and Murphy in Cherokee county
  • Hwys. 76, 252 and 178 and residential areas in Anderson, South Carolina.
  • Hwy. 150 and the growing residential areas near Croft State Park in Spartansburg County, South Carolina.
  • Hwy. 93 and the town of Liberty in Pickens County, South Carolina.
  • Cingular Wireless has budgeted 385 million dollars to upgrade its wireless network in the Carolinas by the years end. They are also launching some sites that offer 3G (third generation)
    broadband connectivity to the internet.
