Hurricane season is well underway and Cingular Wireless is there to help you keep in touch with emergency services and loved ones even in the worst of weather conditions.

Cingular has invested more than 60 million dollars to strengthen their network in preparation for these storms. They’ve added 1,200 permanent and portable generators throughout the state of Florida in the event of power loss as well as 2 state of the art mobile command centers that be used to restore full communications systems quickly.

They also suggest the following tips to network subscibers:
* Make sure that your phone has important phone numbers like the police, fire/rescue, and friends in your stored phone book. If you need to contact them, their number is easy to access.

* Keep your wireless phone dry. Moisture can render your phone useless, so be sure to protect it with a plastic baggie or other water resistant material.

* Text messaging requires less resources than a phone call and will go through quicker than a phone call in emergency situations. This helps keep lines clear for emergency workers, as well.

* Use your camera phone to document your belongings. This information is required by insurance adjusters and the like.
