Windows Smartphones to come with Yahoo Mobile Service

August 30, 2006 – 1:27 pm

Yahoo Mobile Service landed a big customer today. They announced that Smartphones running Windows will now use their mobile service ?by default:

The leading Internet media company earlier this year launched its Yahoo Go service that lets cellphones access the company’s e-mail, Web search and digital photos service. Yahoo’s mobile service is available on some phones made by Motorola, the world’s second biggest cellphone maker.

There’s no word on how big of a deal this will be, but it certainly affects a great number of phones. The mobile content segment is being hotly contested right now, with no clear winner in sight.

The important part about the latest Yahoo offerings, are that they tightly integrate your cell phone with the popular Yahoo-owned image-sharing website Flickr, so now sending emails that include pictures will be even easier than usual.
