Ideas of Genius

Thought the cell phone revolution had all but killed Superman’s old standby, the phone booth? Guess again.
While Brian Singer, in making the most recent cinematic installment Superman Returns, had to give Clark Kent some alternate venues for superhero quick change, the guys at Salemi Industries were busy developing the monstrosity you see at left: the cell phone booth, known to them as “The Cell Zone.”
It’s a clever double entendre, by the way: a big part of the The Cell Zone’s appeal to the people most likely to buy it is the advertising revenue it could generate. Since there’s no actual function to The Cell Zone other than being a very small, soundproof room, every square inch of the interior is available to display ads.
But, this reminds me of Bud Light’s “Mr. Really Loud Cell Phone Talker Guy” in their “Real Men of Genius” ad campaign. “Talking about your cousin’s intestinal problems at a quiet dinner party? Unacceptable. Talking about your cousin’s intestinal problems on a cell phone at a quiet dinner party? Perfectly acceptable.” And it’s absolutely true that more venues could use an out-of-the-way, sound-proof place to take and make cell phone calls. But, all you really need is a door, a bunch of foam rubber soundproofing material, and a six foot square chunk of floor in which to put it.
That thing? Is just silly.

But that would require work. Since we got the necessities covered, convenience has become a commodity.

I think it really depends on where you place it. It could make money.
