UAE: BenQ Siemens aiming for Larger Market Share
September 10, 2006 – 3:52 pmUnited Arab Emirates (UAE) is perhaps the most attractive market in Middle East for mobile phone companies. The country has a population of nearly 3.1 million and there are 4.5 million phone connections. There is money in the air and many people from around the globe come here to change their fortune. BenQ Siemens is trying its best to attract the mobile phone users in UAE. This June, the company introduced 5 new models in UAE. The models are: S88, S68, EF81, E61 and EL71.
Al Bawaba reported about it:
BenQ Siemens, the innovative mobile communication solutions provider, is gearing up to tap the fast growing cellular phone user base in the UAE with its recently launched range of mobile phones. A recent Madar Research study shows that as at the end of 2005 there were 4.5 million phone connections in the UAE, marking a 23 per cent increase over 2004. The study revealed that the growth in fixed-line connections, which reached about 1.2 million lines as at end of last year, was significantly lower, at four per cent.
“The UAE already has the highest mobile penetration in the Middle East, and the imminent launch of the second telecom operator in the country means that this trend is likely to continue for a few years, especially since the saturation level for mobile subscription in the UAE is much higher than other countries in the region,” said Kazi Najib Ashraf, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, BenQ Siemens.”
The good news is that in UAE the mobile phone market is going to flourish in the next months too because of mainly 2 matters:
UAE is one of the richest countries in the world and that is why every one can afford mobile phones. Even, changing mobile sets and taking more than one connection are very popular.
Secondly, many tourists come to UAE every month. Many of them take prepaid connections and they can use when they come again here.
By the way, mobile phone is perhaps the best tool to express love in UAE for the young people.
