Be careful of Mobile Phone Addiction
September 16, 2006 – 1:25 pmDr David Sheffield, of the University of Staffordshire, has warned mobile phone users against getting addicted to mobile phone. Stress and irritation- these are the two big problems that may happen to you if you get addicted to mobile phone (if you use it too much). Of course, mobile phone operators in UK are not happy with this. A BBC report stated the matter in a good way:
Some 16% were found to have problem behaviour linked to using their phone - either lying about how much they used them, becoming irritable after using them or being overly pre-occupied with them. The result of this was to cause the user stress, Dr Sheffield will tell the British Psychological Society. The theory was reinforced by tests carried out on 20 mobile phone users before and while giving up their mobile phones. The results showed once people had started cutting down their mobile phone use, their blood pressure was lower when talking about them than before.
So, from now, try to be careful and not use mobile phone too much. At least, if you feel that you are getting addicted to mobile phone then try to cut back on its use. Needless to say that mobile phone operators did not like this kind of study as they fear that if consumers get too much influenced with this kind of studies then they will lose business. They are arguing that mobile phone has given us the freedom to communicate from any place any time.
