With Nokia’s help, you too can cut your electricity consumption by a significant degree, just by undocking your phone as soon as it’s charged. This actually seems like a pretty nifty idea, and one I’m surprised more devices don’t have built-in already. How hard is it, I wonder, if the little battery icon on my iPod or Treo 650 can change when fully charged, that neither can ding a little reminder bell of some kind?
Of course, especially with my phone, I can so rarely keep devices plugged in long enough to charge all the way that the feature will almost be lost on me. As it happens, I’m sitting and my desk at home, in my home office right now, with my cellphone charging, but that’s the first time in… weeks. Usually I’m charging it on the road through my car’s cigarette lighter, and I almost always have to undock it before it’s done in order to take it in to see a client. But I’d also dig this for my iPod, as mentioned, and my Bluetooth headset.
But hey, good idea Nokia. Glad you were forced to do it.

I always remove it once it’s done charging, but I assumed it didn’t matter and wasn’t using any power after charging was complete anyway…
