Forced Upgrade By Cingular

Well, I got my notice yesterday.

The trusty phone I’ve had since 2003 is getting phased out because it isn’t GSM compatible. I knew this was coming since they announced upcoming changes back in August so now I have 2 choices. I can upgrade the phone and be forced into a new cell phone contract or pay $5.00 extra dollars monthly until the phone stops working.

There’s nothing like forcing an upgrade on existing customers to boost sales or new contracts.

I wasn’t planning on doing either of these things, so I’ll have to give some thought to what I want to do next. Maybe I’ll just opt for a prepay phone that costs a lot less..
