LG Electronics Moves To Number Two Position For Shipments And Market Share On Handset Shipments

December 19, 2006 – 10:42 am

In a recent report released by IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, LG Electronics has moved into the number two spot for shipments and total market share for mobile phone handsets for Quarter 3 2006.

According to the report, LG shipped 6.8 million handsets in the United States.

“We are extremely proud of the successes that LG has had with both CDMA and GSM technologies,” said Juno Cho, president, LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. “LG continues to manufacture products that appeal to consumers by offering an ideal combination of information, entertainment and communication. While sales metrics are a good measurement of the company’s success in the marketplace, it is the total satisfaction of our customers that we believe to be the true measure of success.”

I’m sure that increased sales of the popular Chocolate phone played a major role in LG’s success.
