Not only does Verizon work hard to keep people connected on their growing network, they also work hard to give back to the communities that they service.

Recently Verizon Wireless donated $1,500.00 to Shelter Our Sisters, a non profit organization that helps women and children that are victims of domestic abuse in Bergen County, New York.

This donation was made possible from the proceeds made from Verizon’s Hopeline Program, which refurbishes old phones for resale or safely disposes of phones that are no longer usable. Monies generated from these sales benefit charity.

“This donation is the result of neighbors helping neighbors,” said Charles Hand, president of Verizon Wireless’ New York Metro Region. “Bergen County residents recognize the devastating impact domestic violence can have on families and have responded by donating their old cell phones and chargers to this very worthy cause. We thank them for their generosity and encourage all citizens to keep domestic violence survivors in their hearts and minds.”
