Nokia Sees Advance In 2007 Cell Phone Replacement Sales

March 13, 2007 – 11:12 am

The big money is in selling telecom customer replacement equipment. Or at least Nokia stands to make seriously big money from the practice in 2007.

Nokia said it expects consumers replacing their old cell phones to represent more than 65 percent of the device industry volumes in 2007, compared with more than 60 percent in 2006. Demand for color screens, cameras, music players and 3G will drive the sales.

Despite all the hype we’re hearing about emerging technologies, it looks like Nokia is still making most of their money the old-fashioned ways: by replacing the phones of current customers.
