Joint Venture For Nokia Siemens Begins In April

Nokia and Siemens recently announced that they are beginning a joint venture in Germany to compete with Ericsson.

The joint venture will combine Nokia’s handsets and Siemens network carrier-related operations.

Nokia Siemens Networks, aims to provide the equipment that mobile services, such as T-Mobile or Vodafone or O2, need to provide more content quickly to subscribers.

Nokia, based in Espoo, just outside Helsinki, sells phones in 130 countries and employs 62,000 people. Siemens is Europe’s largest electronics and electrical engineering company, and employs more than 460,000 people.

The JV is expected to begin on April 1, 2007.
