Mobile phone growth isn’t just taking place here in the United States, many foreign lands have become enamored with cell phones and converging devices.
LG Electronics is looking to take on a significant market share in Malaysia.
“Globally, LG is targeting sales of 78 million mobile phones including more than 13.5 million GSM units in Asia, the Middle East and Africa in 2007, which would represent a 113 percent increase from last year,” said chief executive officer I G Kim during the launching of the LG Shine (model KE970), the second handset under its Black Label Series, here Thursday.
LG Shine, a full-metal bodied slider phone with magic mirror screen, is the latest model from the series after LG Chocolate.
Already available in Korea, the Shine has sold more than 180,000 since November last year with more than 3,500 units a day still being sold, while in Europe the Shine sold 200,000 units within the first month of its launching.
“LG is positive that the Shine will enjoy similar success in Malaysia,” he said, adding that they plan to come out with one model for Black Label series every year.
The phone is now available at authorized LG stores for RM 1,399.
