You’d think that Sony Ericsson would be in a good mood these days. They’ve recently released some great new products and are forecasting solid growth. But there’s an issue looming large on the cell phone industry horizon and it has the company up at nights, riddled with worry.

At issue: Last month an important agreement expired between Nokia and Qualcomm which could cause legal problems.

“My thinking is that it is going to have quite a big impact on the industry as a whole,” Sony Ericsson’s head Miles Flint said at the Reuters Global Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit in Paris on Wednesday.

Sony Ericsson feels that Nokia and Qualcomm will reach an agreement for things get too out of hand. The optimism is shared by Nokia, who said: “We continue to negotiate and continue to be desirous of a settlement,” Nokia Chief Financial Officer Rick Simonson said earlier this week at the summit.
