Motorola Buys Modulus Video
May 17, 2007 – 8:43 amToday Motorola announced that they are buying held Modulus Video Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Modulus is a privately held company.
The demand for video on mobile is increasing so Motorola is extending their portfolio of mobile companies. They have also recently acquired Broadbus, Kreatel, Tut Systems and Netopia.
Dan Moloney president of Motorola’s home and networks mobility business spoke about their
strategy. “As consumers demand more high definition video and interactive services, the need for advanced compression technology is increasingly important” and that noted that Modulus provided a “powerful architecture and product development framework.” for growth.
Motorola has had an ongoing partnership with Modulus for the past two years.
Modulus will remain based in Sunnyvale, California. The deal is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2007.
