Executives at Motorola recently announced that they were committed to bringing innovative mobile phones back on the market. In recent past Motorola’s market share has slipped and Samsung has stepped up.

“We aspire to be No. 1 in market share,” said Stu Reed, new chief of development for mobile devices. But, he emphasized, “we will not do it at the expense of margin.”

They also disclosed plans to cut 7,500 jobs and cut $1 billion in costs in an effort to turn things around from flooding emerging markets with lower priced phones in an attempt to gain market share.

CEO, Ed Zander stated that he felt that “consistency” has been the issue for Motorola. He wants to focus on retaining market share for 30 years, and not just 3.

We’ll see what Motorola has got.
