Samsung is a company with big plans, and their handsets are a big part of them. The tides have been rising for Samsung, who is now the number two handset manufacturer behind Nokia, and a lot of the reason can be because of the great job they’ve done in India. The company is selling through retail partners in India and they expect 18 per cent market share next year, three times what they’re doing now.
“We shall have over 500 retail outlets, of which 200 plus will be called privilege partners while 300 would be shop-in-shop. The year 2008 is going to be for promoting brand and retail marketing,” Samsumg Mobile Head Marketing Asim Warsi told reporters.
The company is also investing heavily in India for production needs, as well as importing product.
