A 73 year old blind Japanese man, Sadao Hasegawa, has created a new mobile phone for people that are visually and hearing impaired. This phone was created with the assistance of Tsukuba University of Technology and sends out vibrations that represent Braille symbols.

Sadao Hasegawa demonstrates his Braille phone.

Mr. Hasegawa said “This should be a big help for blind people who find it difficult to communicate.”

This is the first phone of its kind. If it proves capable, this could make life easier for many people that suffer from poor vision or hearing. We hope to hear of more products like this being developed..
