Samsung recently announced the addition of their first HSUPA (high-speed uplink packet access) mobile phone. This technology supports faster upload speeds than other mobile phones and is the first of it’s kind for Samsung.

The SCH-M470 is a slider phone that can transmit up to 2M BPS when connected through a HSUPU wireless network. Speeds will vary on HSDPA and WCDMA wireless networks.

What does this mean for consumers? It means that photos, music and videos will download faster. The SCH-M470 has a 2.0 megapixel camera, Bluetooth capabilities and wi-fi.

For now, the HSUPA enabled SCH-M470 mobile phone is only available in South Korea and costs around $600.00 US.
