Apple recently announced that they were dropping the price of the iPhone by $200.00 – just a couple months after it’s initial release in June.

That means that the 8-gigabyte iPhone will be $399.00 instead of the $599.00 that early technology adapters paid when the iPhone first hit the shelf.

The smaller 4 gigabyte iPhone that sold for $399.00 is going to be phased out altogether.

I’m sure that this marketing will upset those that paid a premium to be the first on their block to own a prestigious iPhone. Market analysts have already started chattering about the decision of Apple to reduce the price so drastically just months after the phones introduction.

“It will absolutely help sales — but at what cost?” asked Tim Beyers, an analyst at The Motley Fool research and investment group. “People who bought the iPhone weeks or months ago must really be annoyed, and with good reason they might think twice about being the first to buy future Apple products. This smacks a little of desperation, and it’s very unlike Apple.”

What are your thoughts on a lower priced iPhone? Is it music to your ears or something that gives you a bad feeling for not waiting to buy it?
