Deutsche Telekom To Purchase SunCom Wireless
September 17, 2007 – 3:42 pmToday T-Mobile USA parent Deutsche Telekom announced plans to purchase regional wireless provider SunCom for 1.6 billion in cash. Under the agreement, Duetsche will also assume another
800 million in debt.
In return for the big money, Deutsche Telecom will get 1.1 million subscribers across the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean.
No word on when the two companies will finalize the deal, but this seems like a sound way to grow a customer base without having to do a lot of marketing. I’m sure that Deutsche is thinking the same way.
