Nokia Quite Happy About FCC Opening Access To The 700MHz Spectrum
by Darren
August 1, 2007 – 6:33 amNokia has had a lot to be happy about lately, and that’s also true of the FCC’s decision to allow “Open Access” to the 700 MHz spectrum. This would allow much more competition in the market and a chance for more companies to introduce innovative products, according to company representatives.
“Nokia believes that the Commission’s rules are an important step towards meeting consumer demand and driving further innovation as mobility and the Internet converge,” said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the CEO of Nokia. “We commend the FCC and Chairman Martin for taking the initiative to promote even greater competition and innovation in the U.S. wireless industry.”
The 700MHz spectrum promises to be rife with competition as the new devices represent convergence in a way that isn’t currently being used. We look forward to hearing more of these developments.
