Sprint Nextel Purchases Northern PCS
June 13, 2007 – 2:29 pmSprint Nextel recently announced that they were buying Northern PCS in a 312.5 million dollar deal.
Sprint Nextel will pay $307.2 million and assume $5.3 million in debt, said spokesman James Fisher. Sprint Nextel is based in Reston, Virginia. The deal still requires regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
Northern PCS already services over 236,000 Sprint Nextel subscribers in parts of Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
This is the first affiliate acquisition that Sprint has done last summer. iPCS Inc., Shenandoah Telecommunications and Swiftel Communications are the three last affiliates that Sprint has left. They’ve already bought out a number of affiliates to streamline business.
