OTA is an acronym for “Over The Air.”

OTA gives consumers the ability to program their phone by calling into an over the air programming system. This technology is used primarily to download or upload content or software. This includes ringtones, sharing photos or other types of media.

It might also be used to update phone firmware using the wireless network.
